π What is APIR?
APIR stands for:
Annual Pensioners' Information Revalidation
Itβs essentially the GSIS version of SSS's ACOP β a yearly verification process to confirm that GSIS pensioners are still alive and eligible to receive their pensions.
π Purpose:
To prevent pension fraud and overpayment by ensuring that only legitimate, living pensioners continue to receive their monthly benefits.
π Who Needs to Comply:
β All old-age and survivorship pensioners under GSIS.
π How to Comply:
In person at GSIS branches
Via GSIS Touch Mobile App using facial recognition (especially popular since the pandemic)
At GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosks
Via video call appointment for those residing abroad or unable to visit physically
π Consequences for Non-Compliance:
If a pensioner fails to complete APIR within the required period, their pension may be temporarily suspended until the verification is done.
π Fun Fact:
"Apir" is also a Filipino slang word for high five β β but in this case, itβs purely an acronym for a GSIS process. π
